Desktop Ponies
I haven’t had a chance to test it yet (since I’m on a Mac and don’t feel like firing up Parallels right now) but the bronies on ponychan have been working on a super sweet Desktop Pony project, similar to shimejis.  Except that these can actually interact with each other! EDIT: Here’s a Java port for Mac users! I’m gonna test it now. It’s an open-source code...
