Argh, my tendonitis is coming back, and I have more stuff to draw than ever… 

This is some concept art for a character in a game I’m working on for class.  I’m trying to incorporate the silhuettes of religious symbols into the designs.  Still needs a lot of refining, but I like the direction it’s going.

It’s hard to tell if you’ve resolved this or not already, what with the most completed weapon sketch being the one with the greatest issue— But I feel that it is sensible to remind of the element of functionality of a weapon. I remember I did about 20-30 sketches of scythes when I was character designing for this one character, so I understand it is a difficult weapon to work with. The less complete sketches below seem to deal well enough with working with the seductive crescent shape that you’re trying to capture whilst still maintaining their practicality for combat. I’m unsure of what order they were drawn in, so I don’t know if you’re already working on refining the more complete looking sketch on the upper half or if that is in fact your final design, but in case of the latter I highly suggest you consider function as it’s an easy fix and you already seem to have a good idea for what would make a practical weapon. 

Exciting sketches though! They generally show a strong balance between design and function! 

I can’t talk too much about the designs without giving it all away, but the weapons don’t need to be very functional, they’re mostly ceremonial.  

This character (and others in the game) fight using magic and paranormal abilities, which is why I played with the idea of making a glaive that resembles something a Sailor Moon character would hold. XD

I do like the idea of a wickedly curved scimitar-esque blade or circular glaive, though.  There are plenty of similarly shaped weapons that are very functional, such as African throwing blades:
