Some concept art from Sister Claire’s favorite lifestyle brand, “Holy Kitty.” Thinking of naming them “Crucible” and “Crucifix.” Although their designs closely resemble “Hello Kitty” and “Chocolat”, their design as a pair was more inspired by “Kuromi” (my personal favorite Sanrio character) and “My Melody”. The pentagram star on Crucible’s head was inspired by Luna’s moon from “Sailor Moon.”
The company name was suggested by FallingIvy, it’s an anagram of the word “savior”.
After drawing novice Olga, I wanted to draw Jackson when she was younger, too!
Sister Jackson’s design has several influences: the nostalgic, warm, desaturated colors of 70’s design, the flared pants of disco fashion, and iconically dapper black-and-white style of Janelle Monáe. Her childhood hairstyle is inspired by Jazmine from the Boondocks.
I really love 70’s design, there’s something about the warm tones and overall retro cartoony feel that makes it feel very nostalgic, stylish, and friendly to me. Jackson is generally a level-headed and friendly Sister, and I feel like the association matches her well.
I redesigned a shell that Sal gives to Gabrielle in the Atlantis scene. It is just me, or are seashells the most yonic symbol there is? Somehow, I don’t think Gabrielle minds.
Trying to design a weapon for a character! I like the revolver idea more, but I can’t get it to look as good as I imagine it. I don’t usually design mechanical things, which is probably why it’s giving me a bit of trouble. #2 could also potentially be used as a melee weapon if the attacker is struck with the pointed tips of the magazine at close range.
Which one do you think is cooler?
I am much happier with this revamp of Sal’s design. What do you think?
