Not all water benders are dark-skinned, though.

But! All water benders from the Northern/Southern water tribes are dark-skinned. While it’s true that not all water benders are dark-skinned, I don’t really see why that was given as a response to that comment…!

Yakone was white, and if you study genetics, then you would know, even with darker skin tones being a more powerful gene, there is a chance a child can be born white.

…. BUT, with that said, if you do look at flash backs Noatak/Amon is dark skinned as a child and is white when he is Amon, I think they were hoping we’d make the connection he got the same treatment his father did.

Nobody in either “A:TLA” or “Korra” is white!  They are all based on Asian cultures (mostly East Asian, but also including South East Asia influence (particularly for the Fire Nation) and Inuits for the North/South Water tribe.  If you don’t want to get into a debate, don’t make such false sweeping assumptions while claiming to be a genetics expert.  Seriously, this fandom will tear you to pieces for saying things like that, with good reason. It’s that sort of thinking that fueled Shamalan’s white-washed abomination of a movie.

Because I realize this post is getting reblogged out of context, I want to add that I wasn’t trying to argue that Noatok is white or should have been light-skinned in the finale. I maintain that that was unexplained and makes no sense, considering that he was the same tone as Korra and Tarrlok in flashbacks.

The only reason I mentioned that not all water tribe members are dark-skinned is because people often forget about the swamp benders, including myself. (I was initially very confused about why Tahno was so light-skinned compared to Korra.)

• loses her father after finding out he’s a traitor.
• finds out that her friend has liked her boyfriend all this time.
• gets arrested for her father’s crimes and for being a non-bender.
• finds out that her boyfriend kissed her friend WHILE THEY WERE DATING.
• feels her boyfriend drift away from her to be with another girl he apparently cares about more.
• confronts her boyfriend about his cheating and receives no apology in any form.
• eventually gets the hint that it’s over and accepts it.
• confronts her father who DISOWNS her and ATTEMPTS TO KILL HER with one of his own inventions.

theeeeenn… she kinds of hangs around until the end.

Someone tell me I’m not the only one hoping for some closure with this girl.

I just have high hopes that in the second season, she becomes this unstoppable force of girl-who-don’t-need-no-man.

#but okay no #no no no #this isn’t how this was supposed to happen #in the red gifs where aang is in the avatar state he WORKED for that #he spent three seasons coming to terms with his destiny and with his responsibility to the world as the avatar #and two of those three seasons showed him triggering the avatar state through fits of rage and pain #he went through three seasons of development #three seasons where he had to let go of katara and realize what exactly being the avatar meant to him and what it entailed #and then #korra’s time comes around and she’s just given the avatar state #she cries about how she’s failed (BECAUSE AANG NEVER DID THAT AND THAT WASN’T PART OF HIS DEVELOPMENT) and that’s enough to bring aang forth #and apparently she’s mastered the avatar state #no #aang had to go through hell to be able to master the avatar state and reach his goal #and korra i love you korra i do #but you deserve so much more #you deserve a fantastic story arc because you’re a fantastic character #you deserve growth and depth and internal conflict and not the easily reached fate you got #i’m sorry baby #i love you #i do.

Yeeeeaaah it’s kinda like the show started off running then tripped a little bit and did a face plant. I love this franchise so much and parts of LOK were great and there was a lot of unused potential there, so I am really hoping for better with book 2.

Though… Makorra needs to not be happening. I was indifferent to it at first, but they wrote Mako to be such a colossal douche that I just… no. Do not want.

Season 2 should just be the Asami and Lin show. Korra and Bolin can come too. In fact… everyone except Mako.

I really don’t like Mako.
