My dad linked me to the website of this really awesome artist, a Malaysian Muslim cartoonist named Sarah Joan Mokhtar. I absolutely love her art!

On a related note, I would like to meet some people who I can talk to about including Muslim characters in Sister Claire. I have some ideas, but I want to talk to someone about them before going ahead- if you are a Muslim reader of Sister Claire and wouldn’t mind proofing some of my ideas, please let me know. (Asks are now open.)

I’ve been learning a bit about Tai Chi for a character in Sister Claire, specifically the use of Jian in Tai Chi.

Through this I discovered some seriously badass ladies like Chai Fong Ying, and Ng Shin Yii (pictured below.)

Wish I could catch the next East Asian games, they’re packed with martial arts. <3

Yamino (aka Elena Barbarich) is a self-published, freelance artist graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design, majoring in Sequential Art. She was born in Rome, Italy, but has also lived in California, Austria and Belgium. She is fluent in English, conversational in Italian and French, understands most German and Spanish, and is teaching herself Japanese. Her favorite drink is bubble tea (aka boba.)

In the future, she hopes to finish her webcomic series "Sister Claire", and continue working on several others she has planned. Ideally she’d like to have a steady job as a concept artist/storyboard artist/comic artist/illustrator. She would also like to teach English in Japan.

Other than writing and drawing comics, her hobbies include voice-acting, dancing in front of the mirror, travel, learning languages, creating custom clothing, speaking in the 3rd person, and posing for pretentious photos.
